Ayurveda

Ayurveda, translated from its original Sanskrit, means “Knowledge of Life”. Some 5,000 years old, Ayurveda is an Indian philosophy and way of life known as the mother of all medical systems.

An Ayurvedic practitioner doesn’t simply treat an illness or injury, but the whole person. The practice of Ayurveda uses the elements, the seasons, plants and bodily humors to discover area of potential weakness. It is based on the belief that you are composed of various combinations of the five elements: earth, air, fire, water, and ether. These elements manifest themselves through your Dosha, or body type. At an Ayurvedic appointment, the practitioner will discuss your lifestyle, physical health, and preferences to determine your personal Dosha. Since maintaining the balance of your Dosha is the key to your health, you may be instructed in cooking and nutrition, herbs, spices, purification techniques, aroma therapy, and breathing practices all specifically chosen to guide you to vibrant health and energy.
