Yoga Class Descriptions

Below are descriptions of our class offerings at Yoga4All. Not all of these classes are offered continuously. Please check the monthly class calendar for the current class roster. We also occasionally offer 4- , 6- or 8-week series with descriptions found on the monthly class schedule. We now offer you the opportunity to attend any ONE class one time for free if you are a Pinellas resident.

Class levels are suggested. Students practicing yoga at other levels may attend any class with teacher permission. Please contact the class teacher directly for permission. Beginners Class -  Join us in this beginner’s class to explore the healing potential of linking movement with breath, the clarity of pranayama, and the power of relaxation. Connect with one of our talented yoga4all teachers for your personal journey to vitality through creative yoga sequences. This class is perfect for beginners with the desire to learn more about yoga and become a part of our yoga community.  Ask the instructor about the class pass introductory offer your first time in this class. This beginner’s class is offered every Thursday 5:30 – 6:45 pm and every Saturday 9:00 – 10:15 am.  Instructors vary between  Sugandha Purohit, MD, RYT200, Sandi Teresi E-RYT200, Karen Connolly RYT 200,  and Marty Maddox, E-RYT500, LMT.

Align and Refine – Instructor Wanda Howe, E-RYT 500. This class is an excellent time to pause and explore how to refine your poses through proper alignment and a balanced approach to your practice. Learn techniques to align the bones so the muscles will work more efficiently. Honoring her many years of studies with alignment based instructors, this practice focuses on exploring the more specific aspects of asana as it relates to alignment and stability in the yoga practice. The sequencing of poses is specifically designed as a building block, while helping the student develop power and stamina, for a strong body and quiet mind. We use a wide range of props. Learn better use of the energy body and the breath as you practice. This class includes meditation and some pranayam. Moderate/Intermediate

Align and Strengthen - Instructor Nancy MacDonald, E-RYT 500. This class offers exploration into your yoga postures through proper alignment, awareness and understanding of the body and its movements. Honoring her studies with Karin Stephan, an Iyengar teacher that studied with BKS Iyengar for many years, allows Nancy the ability to bring these teachings into her classes. As Karin says “The sequence is the pose” building a strong foundation working from the ground up builds safety into the practice. The ability to see the details of weakness and strengths in the body allows Nancy to offer refinements that will allow your practice to grow and expand. Refining the postures allows the body to work with ease which then allows the mind to find peace and steadiness in the poses. A wide range of props are used. Breath work, Pranayama and Meditation are included in this class as well as aromatherapy. Easy/Moderate

Easy Yoga and Stretch – Instructor Heather Overton, Certified Personal Trainer, E-RYT 200, RYT500. Gentle stretches with breath and meditation building up to strengthening postures, using props as needed for proper alignment. This class offers a balanced practice to ease you into your day. Easy

Easy Yoga and Stretch for Back Pain – Instructor Heather Overton, E-RYT 200, RYT500. This class offers breath work to oxygenate the muscles, stretches to release the tension in the back and hips, and yoga poses designed to build strength. Bolsters, blankets and blocks are used to facilitate safer poses.  Easy

Fit Yoga4All – Instructor Heather Overton, Certified Personal Trainer, E-RYT 200, RYT500. Combine your Yin and Yang in a class created to balance you head to toe. Fit Yoga is designed to meet your total body needs. Heather shares her knowledge of fitness and yoga all in one class. The first half hours feels just like a group fitness class with a full body workout and energetic music then seamlessly transitions to an active, relaxing yoga class! Your last 15 minutes is spent in a well-deserved savasana! This class is open to all fitness levels. Wear athletic shoes and bring a towel. Light hand weights are welcome in class. Moderate

Gentle AM Yoga – Instructor Nancy MacDonald, E-RYT 500 Gentle morning class that warms the joints slowly and gently bringing fluidity back into your body. This class does not have a lot of getting up and down and all the poses can be modified to work with your body. Alignment using props brings ease into every pose. This class remains on a gentle level throughout. A wonderful way to start your day and explore gentle yoga. Aromatherapy is offered at the end of class. Easy/Restorative

Hatha Yoga AM - Instructor Nancy MacDonald, E-RYT 500 Looking for a way to start you day and week off right? Join Nancy for a yoga class that will build strength, flexibility and balance not only of the body but of the mind as well. Nancy will focus on alignment so the bones are doing their jobs and the muscles are supporting the bones to bring ease and steadiness into the yoga postures. Leave this class with a feeling of inner peace and balance and ready to continue your day/week. Easy/ Moderate

Hatha Yoga Blend – Instructor Amanda James, RYT 200 and Heather Overton, Certified Personal Trainer, RYT 200 This class focuses on the basics of a complete yoga practice. Students develop strength, flexibility, and balance through instruction on proper alignment, breath awareness, and meditation.  Beginners Welcome. Easy/Moderate

Hatha Blend Multi Level Class – Instructors Heather Overton, Certified Personal Trainer, E-RYT 200, RYT500 or Wanda Howe, E-RYT 500.This class is designed for students of all levels. Heather leads this playful and detailed class to either begin or deepen your basic knowledge. All levels of students are welcome. Easy/Moderate

Hatha Yoga Stretch – Instructor Heather Overton, Certified Personal Trainer, E-RYT 200, RYT500 guides this active class through the intricacies of each pose. The focus of this dynamic practice will be to learn the details of the alignment in each pose. Through the use of props, Heather will assist you in safely warming the body then guide you through detailed sequences to further your exploration. This class builds balance and strength and Heather encourages her students to step outside of their comfort zone to new yoga territory. During this class, questions are welcomed to ensure each student understands not just how to do the posture but also why. Moderate

Hatha Yoga, The Journey – Instructor Nancy MacDonald, E-RYT 500 Understand the postures and how to find alignment for your body. Postures will be demonstrated slowly to allow understanding of alignment and any props that may be needed to find comfort, balance and confidence. This class also helps you become familiar with the posture names as well as breath practices that sustain the body during the asana practice. This class is designed to deepen your understanding of the yoga postures, develop greater flexibility and awaken the mind-body connection. Come open your heart to yoga. Private instruction is available. Aromatherapy will be offered in this class. Easy

Kundalini Tuesday class – Instructor Lisa Recchione, MA, RYT500, E-RYT 200, RYT 500, KR1. Kundalini Yoga, called “the Yoga of Awareness”, is an ancient practice that has never been changed. It has physical, energetic, and spiritual components. The aim is to balance all systems so that health is improved, blockages removed , chakras balanced, and subtle bodies experienced. The outcome is balance, sense of well being and a deeper connection to the personal and infinite Self. The practice includes physical asana and movement, pranayama, and meditation. Often the class will focus on themes like chakras, communication, stress control, self awareness, mind and meditation, energetic bodies, infinite connection, dharma vs. karma, digestion,immunity , brain health, endocrine health, and much more.   Tuesday night is more physical and energetic.

Kundalini class Thursday- Instructor Lisa Recchione, MA, RYT500, E-RYT 200, RYT 500, KR1.  Kundalini Yoga, called “the Yoga of Awareness”, is an ancient practice that has never been changed. It has physical, energetic, and spiritual components. The aim is to balance all systems so that health is improved, blockages removed , chakras balanced, and subtle bodies experienced. The outcome is balance, sense of well being and a deeper connection to the personal and infinite Self. The practice includes physical asana and movement, pranayama, and meditation. Thursday night is gentle practice with breath work and meditation.Easy/Moderate

Prenatal/Postnatal – Instructor Amanda James, RYT 200, RCYT, Certified Prenatal/Postnatal Instructor. The prenatal/postnatal yoga program at Yoga4All is designed to prepare you for labor and delivery and give you a place to slowly recover from the rigors of giving birth. Classes include breathing and relaxation techniques, as well as poses to promote muscle toning and strengthening, balance and circulation. Weekly yoga classes are led by instructors trained to work with the unique experiences of pregnancy. Each class includes restorative poses, adjustments and liberal use of support props. A prenatal/postnatal yoga class is also a great way to meet other pregnant women and feel a sense of community in a supportive and holistic environment. If you have never practiced yoga or have practiced very little before your pregnancy, you should practice only prenatal yoga while pregnant. While most women new to yoga begin their prenatal practice during the second trimester, if you already had a strong yoga practice before your pregnancy, you may be able to continue a fairly vigorous practice with modifications. Check with a qualified instructor before you begin your practice.

Restorative/Yin Yoga – Instructor Nancy MacDonald, E-RYT 500 and Certified Restorative Yoga teacher. This gentle practice utilizes various props to learn to observe your breath & feel the subtle effects on your body. Through these techniques, you may be able to recover from illness & fatigue, stimulate digestion, increase flexibility & circulation, and relieve stress-related headaches. This is a calming, therapeutic process to help renew the body and quiet the mind. Restorative/Easy

Shine Strong Yoga – Instructor Heather Overton, Certified Personal Trainer, E-RYT 200, RYT500. Start your day with Shine Strong Yoga. This alignment based system of yoga detoxifies, stretches and strengthens the body while at the same time bringing greater calm and focus to the mind. Learn to stack the bones to build body awareness and create better posture. Moderate. All levels of experience are welcome.

Sunday Fun-day – Find your flow!! Prepare to ignite your inner fire this Summer with a balanced, flowing practice every Sunday-Funday! Heather Overton, Certified Personal Trainer, E-RYT 200, RYT500 guides you on this meditation in motion. Let Heather kick your asana into gear and prepare you for the upcoming week. Connecting breath to movement, this class will leave you refreshed and invigorated! All levels of practitioners are welcome. Moderate

Thursday Fun-Day – Find your flow!! Prepare to ignite your inner fire this Summer with a balanced, flowing practice every Sunday-Funday! Heather Overton, Certified Personal Trainer, E-RYT 200, RYT500 guides you on this meditation in motion. Let Heather kick your asana into gear and prepare you for the upcoming week. Connecting breath to movement, this class will leave you refreshed and invigorated! All levels of practitioners are welcome. Moderate

Yum Yum Yoga – Instructor Nancy MacDonald, E-RYT 500. Let go of the day and find the peace within through gentle yoga postures, smooth stretches, meditation, and Pranayama (breath) practice. Give yourself the gift of yoga and find the tools to help relieve stress, balance the emotions, and bring flexibility to the body, mind and heart. Recovering from illness or injury, cancer or chronic illness? Come learn some tools to help you through this time in your life. This class will include aromatherapy. Monday’s class is Easy and Wednesday’s class is Easy/Restorative


These classes are offered once a month.

Gong Meditation – Instructor Lisa Recchione, MA, RYT500, E-RYT 200, KR1. This is a monthly event with Lisa. The Gong has all the sounds and vibrations of creations within it. It cancels out thoughts and allows you to completely relax very deeply and quickly. The mind is overcome and relaxed by the gong so that a very deep state of meditation can be reached. In this state deep healing occurs and awareness is heightened. Everyone Invited

Yoga Nidra – Instructor Nancy MacDonald, E-RYT 500. Offered one Sunday a month, Yoga Nidra is the deepest and most powerful of all meditations. It is known as the “yogic sleep” and forms a complete experience of deep relaxation, self-healing and integration. It involves systematically relaxing the body, breath and mind as you enter a deep relaxed state much more intense than ordinary sleep. Yoga Nidra also refreshes the physical, emotional and mental bodies and creates a systematic release of stress and prepares the mind to receive the personal affirmations you develop in class. This practice is suitable for All Levels of practitioners as a guided meditation. No experience necessary, wear comfortable clothes and become more grounded, focused and at peace. Easy You will find registration for this in the Workshop Section.

Meditation and Pranayama – a “how to” class – Instructor Sandi Teresi,E-RYT 200, Reduce stress and deepen your yoga practice in this relaxing guided meditation class. Let stillness blossom within you using the ancient technique of Pranayama. Combining these together allows you to quiet the mind as you ride the waves of flowing breath to open your body improving overall wellness.
